Role Overview
We're seeking a seasoned Frontend Engineering Manager to lead our team of talented engineers. As a key member of our leadership team, you'll be responsible for the health, stability, and performance of our storefront code, which runs on thousands of Shopify stores worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the storefront's stability and uptime, establishing a solid testing strategy to ensure smooth releases and minimize incidents.
- Lead a team of 15+ engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership, and high performance while developing your team members professionally.
- Reduce tech debt and modernize our stack, identifying and prioritizing areas for improvement in our legacy codebase and introducing modern frameworks and technologies.
- Mentor and guide your team, conducting code reviews, providing constructive feedback, and ensuring best practices for frontend development.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver a cohesive, high-quality product experience for our users.
Requirements
- 7+ years of frontend development experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership role.
- Proven expertise in React/Preact, TypeScript, and modern frontend architectures.
- Experience with large-scale web applications and a strong focus on performance and stability.
- Ability to reduce tech debt and improve legacy systems while ensuring the stack remains flexible and scalable.
- Strong experience with automated testing and an emphasis on quality assurance.
- A people-first approach to leadership, with strong communication skills and a passion for developing engineers.
- A problem-solving mindset and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
