Character Artist Job Description

Ubisoft Barcelona is a leading game development studio with over 25 years of experience in creating AAA titles across various genres and platforms. We are committed to delivering outstanding gaming experiences to our players worldwide.

Our team is responsible for some of the most memorable AAA games, including "Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege" and "Assassin's Creed Valhalla". We are now seeking a skilled Character Artist to join our team and work on our upcoming AAA project.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Create high-quality character assets that meet the artistic direction for the game.
  2. Work under the guidance of a Lead Artist to develop character look and feel.
  3. Push the quality and innovation of making art for games.
  4. Collaborate with other character artists to raise the proficiency level of character production across the studio.
  5. Raise concerns and propose effective solutions to develop best practices for art creation.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of 3D modeling software (3DS Max, Maya, Blender), texturing tools (Photoshop), and sculpting tools (ZBrush, Marvelous Designer, Substance Painter).
  • Excellent understanding of real-time modeling techniques (shaders, PBR, normal, displacement, etc.).
  • Strong character art-focused portfolio demonstrating 3D art skills and artistic creativity.
  • Good understanding of human anatomy and character design aesthetics.
  • Ability to work within deadlines and manage time effectively.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a studio or on videogame projects.
