Job Description

**Job Summary**

The Director of Wellness and Recreation is responsible for the daily leadership of the spa, salon, fitness center, swimming pool, and wellness operations of the resort to optimize guest satisfaction, productivity, and expense controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Planning: Assist in the development of annual budgets and short to long-range strategic planning for the operation of the spa, salon, and recreation.
  2. Operational Efficiency: Ensure all areas operate cost-effectively and efficiently; review expenditures to ensure that they are kept within operating budgets.
  3. Performance Monitoring: Review daily productivity and measure spa actual performance to budget.
  4. Reporting: Generate monthly facility productivity report.
  5. Policy Development: Assist in the development of standard operating procedures and policy relating to safety and emergency procedures. Ensure that all team members have a complete understanding of and adherence to the policies.
  6. Sales and Marketing: Meet with group meeting planners to show spa and salon facility and programs. Promote and sell customized spa and salon programs to groups as required.
  7. Communication: Provide and take responsibility for the professional delivery of all information via emails, telephone, and in person to all potential spa guests.
  8. Marketing Collaboration: Work with the Marketing and Communications department regarding all aspects of spa promotions. Assist in the implementation of marketing plans and public relations programs.
  9. Competitor Analysis: Maintain thorough knowledge of competitors, including location, product offering, pricing, promotions, and sales techniques.
  10. Scheduling: Monitor scheduling of all services and special programming.
  11. Vendor Relationships: Establish professional business relationships with all vendors.
  12. Staff Development: Prepare detailed induction programs for new employees.
  13. Training and Development: Develop, conduct, and maintain all staff training programs for team members, focusing on their development needs, providing them with new skills to meet the changing needs of the business.
  14. Departmental Meetings: Conduct monthly departmental meetings to provide information to team members, obtain their feedback, rectify operation issues, and provide a regular forum for department communication.

Qualifications:

  1. Experience in luxury resorts will be an advantage with an overall minimum of 10 years of experience in luxury resorts.
  2. Oral and written fluency in Spanish and English.
  3. Thrives in large-scale operation and high-volume operation.
  4. Team player with outstanding interpersonal skills with ability to communicate with all levels of stakeholders.
  5. Service-oriented with an eye for detail, passion, and innovation for Spa & Wellness.
  6. Flexible and able to embrace and respond to change effectively.
  7. Self-motivated and energetic, able to set priorities.
  8. Commitment to professional values – brand conscious.
