We are seeking a highly skilled Master's student to join our Computational Biology group at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. The successful candidate will work on a protein coevolution project, focusing on the identification of species-specific protein interactions in bacteria using phylogenetics and coevolution.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and apply advanced computational methods to study protein interactions and coevolution.
- Perform in-depth sequence and structural-based analyses of proteins.
- Collaborate with senior scientists to prepare and present research projects.
- Participate in internal group meetings and contribute to scientific discussions.
- Education: Degree in Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience:
- Proficiency in UNIX/Linux environments.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Experience with structural biology analysis tools, including ChimeraX and ICM.
- Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience:
- Experience with data analysis tools, such as pandas, matplotlib, and seaborn.
- Experience with machine learning tools, including scikit-learn.
- Competences:
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- The position will be located at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center within the Life Sciences Department.
- We offer a full-time contract with a competitive salary, flexible working hours, and an extensive training plan.
- Duration: Open-ended contract due to technical and scientific activities linked to the project and budget duration.
- Holidays: 23 paid vacation days plus 24th and 31st of December per our collective agreement.
