Master Researcher in Therapeutics and Innovation for Pediatric Neurological Disorders

The Fundació Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron- Institut de Recerca is seeking a highly motivated Master Researcher to join our team in the field of therapeutics and innovation for pediatric neurological disorders.
The group's main objective is to promote the implementation of advanced therapies and innovative treatments for pediatric rare diseases, specifically those affecting motor development in children and adolescents.
We aim to achieve this through precision diagnosis and precision medicine, focusing on children with severe impairment in motor development to improve their quality of life from an early age.
The researcher will be responsible for managing databases from DBS surgery and analyzing variables associated with DBS outcome, handling and processing biological samples, and collaborating with genetic studies.
The project will focus on two main objectives:
1. Precision Diagnosis
To perform precision diagnosis by applying innovative technologies, such as genome sequencing and optical genome mapping, in patients with a high suspicion of genetic etiology after routine genetic testing methods have been non-conclusive.
2. Analysis of Preoperative Magnetic Resonance Imaging Studies
To analyze preoperative magnetic resonance imaging studies to identify morphological and/or microstructural factors in different brain regions capable of predicting the clinical efficacy of DBS.
The researcher will work closely with the team to integrate regularly updated databases, public and private variant prioritization tools using machine-learning methods, bioinformatics predictors of intronic/UTR variant damage, gene panels reviewed and updated by the group and international consortia, and use deep phenotyping strategies and transomic approaches.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in molecular biology, genetics, and bioinformatics, and excellent communication and teamwork skills.
