Science Operations System Engineer

The European Space Agency is seeking a highly skilled Science Operations System Engineer to join its Science Operations Department. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing the science ground segment system, particularly the Science Operation Centres of our science missions.
About the RoleYou will work closely with the Science Operations development team, Project Teams, Project Scientist, Mission Operations Centres at ESOC and Instrument Teams to ensure the successful development and operation of the EnVision mission. Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Setting up and maintaining the system engineering processes of the EnVision Science Operations Centre (SOC) and supporting the entire Science Ground Segment (SGS) during the development and operations phases.
- Defining, formalising and maintaining the required EnVision SOC interfaces with the Instrument Teams and the Missions Operations Centre.
- Leading the SOC system design and requirement definition.
The Science Operations Department is responsible for overseeing the space missions from study to end of operations, developing the science operation systems for the missions, and operating the missions in space, as well as archiving and curating their data during operations and beyond. As a member of this team, you will be part of a dynamic and collaborative environment that is dedicated to maximising the scientific output of the missions for the benefit of humankind.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in system engineering, with experience in designing and implementing complex systems. You will also need to have excellent communication and collaboration skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
