Senior Technical Animator

Scopely is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Animator to join our team in the UK, Ireland, Portugal, or Spain. As a key member of our art team, you will play a crucial role in defining the animation pipelines and tools for our upcoming cross-platform Strategy/MMO title.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create and maintain character rigs, ensuring high-quality animation and performance.
  • Implement models and animations into our game engine, taking ownership of your work.
  • Support all stages of animation development, from pre-production to final.
  • Develop tools and tech for artists and animators to improve the animation pipeline.
  • Set up runtime animation systems and graphs in-engine.
  • Develop a pipeline that achieves high visual quality while considering optimization and performance strategies.
  • Communicate effectively with programming and art disciplines.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot animation pipeline issues.
  • Document processes and tools for the team and external partners.
  • Inspire and mentor team members.
Requirements:
  • At least 1 complete development cycle of a published game title as a Technical Artist/Animator.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating animation rigs and rigging tool development.
  • Expert knowledge of Maya or equivalent, specializing in rigging/skinning.
  • In-depth experience working with animation graphs and state machines.
  • Experience with character deformation techniques and dynamics.
  • Experience working with game engines (e.g., Unity or Unreal).
  • Good understanding of game animation pipelines, current technologies, and platform limitations.
  • Strong creative and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Superior communication, organizational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Positive attitude and ability to receive and provide objective feedback.
  • Able to adapt to evolving project requirements and innovate solutions to problems.

  • Experience working with an IP.
  • Experience with fighting/combat system development.
  • Experience with programming and scripting languages (e.g., C# or C++).
  • Passion for games.
