Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Layout Artist to join our team. As a Senior Layout Artist, you will be responsible for generating previz of films in accordance with established storytelling guidelines. This will involve constructing shots in 3D space to provide a visual run-through of sets, communicating the story based on storyboards, and giving a cinematic aspect to scenes.

Responsibilities

  • Construct shots in 3D space to provide a visual run-through of sets
  • Communicate the story based on storyboards and give a cinematic aspect to scenes
  • Aid in the rough layout of scenes following storyboards to show how characters and environments appear on camera
  • Utilize storyboard animatics to create 3D scenes through character blocking and acting
  • Apply visuals provided by character design and modeling to create the rough layout of scenes
  • Work together with the team to provide support, guidance, and instruction in areas that contribute to their artistic and professional growth
  • Follow the Supervisor's and Lead's guidance
  • Keep up on current artistic methodologies and technology trends and tools that best suit the production and the company in the development of a stronger creative and technical environment
  • Break down scenes correctly and manage your own work

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in VFX or animation industries
  • 3+ years of experience in the animation industry is desirable
  • Strong artistic or technical aptitude related to 3D animation is a must
  • Knowledge of how to use elements to stage camera blocking
  • Knowledge of photography and storytelling
  • Experience in Maya
  • Experience with non-linear editing tools such as Premiere, Hiero, DaVinci Resolve
  • Linux experience is a plus
  • High English level is desirable
  • Spanish is desirable
