Tree Trimmer Top Climber

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Tree Trimmer Top Climber to join our team at Wright Tree Service. As a Top Climber, you will be responsible for trimming and removing trees, as well as assisting with crew leadership and customer relations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Trim and remove trees using climbing equipment and powered trimmer lift trucks
- Assist crew lead with obtaining written permission from property owners
- Help promote and maintain good customer and public relations
- Direct crew when crew lead is away from the job site
- Take on leadership role when appropriate
- Keep informed of new equipment and specifications, standards, practices, and operating procedures
- Use appropriate tools to fell trees or trimmed trunks and split them into manageable pieces
- Spray stumps and brush with hand-spraying equipment to prevent further growth
- Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, brush, and debris, and/or feed brush into a wood chipper
- Repair slight damage to lawns, fences, and walks caused by tree trimming
- Relay hand-signals, direct traffic, drive and operate trucks and equipment as assigned, and keep trucks and work area clear and orderly
- Train new employees on proper procedures
- Safeguard employees and public from hazards in and around work area
- Cooperate with customer, police, and fire departments when blocking street or driveways
- Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, etc. to protect employees as well as the public
- Assume responsibility for the inspection and proper working conditions of tools, trucks, and other work equipment
- Request repair or replacement of equipment when necessary
Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of trees, including identification, growth habits, and correct arboricultural techniques
- Knowledge of American National Standards for Tree Care Operations (ANSI version)
- Knowledge of electrical circuits and ability to read and understand circuit maps
- Ability to wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
- Ability to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times per day
- Ability to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work tasks
- Ability to write, read, and comprehend written and verbal job instructions/information
- Ability to communicate with others and represent Wright Tree Service in a professional manner
- Ability to lift, move, and maneuver up to 50 pounds on an infrequent basis and up to 30 pounds on a frequent basis
- Ability to work long hours and overtime during emergencies (including holidays, weekends, storm work) and be subject to call-out work
- Valid commercial driver's license (dependent on Division and utility/contract requirements)
- Valid medical card to drive company vehicles 10,0001 lb. GVWR or GVW and greater
- Herbicide applicator or operators certification and license as required by Wright Tree Service and local, state, and federal law
- Valid First-Aid and CPR cards
- Complete and pass a Top Climber Performance Review
Work Environment:
Work will be performed in a variety of outdoor settings, including residential and commercial properties, and may involve working at heights using climbing equipment.
