We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Beamline Scientist to join our team at the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST). The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the diffraction activities of the new Surface Spectroscopy and Structure at 1 bar (3Sbar) beamline, which combines the simultaneous acquisition of surface photoemission and diffraction data.
Key Responsibilities- Design, construction, commissioning, and operation of the 3Sbar beamline
- Provide guide and support to beamline users
- Develop innovative hardware and software tools for the 3Sbar beamline
- Participate in the beamline research program and national and European projects
- Doctorate degree in Chemistry, Physics, Material Science, or related disciplines
- At least 2 years of work experience at a synchrotron light source facility with X-ray diffraction related techniques
The selection process will be carried out through the competition-opposition system. The assessment of the CV will be scored up to 40 points, considering the candidate's experience in X-ray diffraction, hard X-ray techniques, and operando or in situ experiments. The best rated candidates will be invited to an interview, where the technical competence, knowledge, skills, and professional experience linked to the position will be assessed.
About the 3Sbar BeamlineThe 3Sbar beamline is a new, under-construction beamline that will be unique worldwide, allowing unprecedented surface and interfaces combining X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (and XANES) with X-ray diffraction at elevated partial pressures. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead the development of this innovative beamline and contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge in the field.
