Instrument Scientist

About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Instrument Scientist to join our team at the ALBA Synchrotron. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support to users of the MINERVA instrument, maintaining its optimal performance, and carrying out upgrade and commissioning activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide support to industry clients using the MINERVA instrument
• Maintain the instrument in perfect conditions and ready to be used
• Carry out upgrade and commissioning activities to keep the instrument at the highest performance level
• Support data analysis, interpretation, and generating meaningful reports for industry clients
• Organize and participate in national and international outreach events to promote the use of synchrotron techniques by industry
• Support ongoing research and development activities within the Optics and Metrology Group
• Perform activities required to keep the MINERVA instrument in operation after the ALBA II upgrade
• Support technology transfer activities

Project Context

The successful candidate will work on the MINERVA beamline, co-funded by the European Space Agency (ESA) in the context of the NewATHENA mission. The candidate will support the private company Cosine to produce and characterize the optics (mirrors modules) of the space telescope, or any other companies willing to use the industry services of the ALBA Synchrotron.

Requirements

The candidate should hold a University degree in a scientific field related to the project, including an Engineering degree. The position is reserved for candidates with a degree of disability equal or greater than 33%.
