Project Manager Job Description

Alight is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to join our team. As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for leading projects from conception to production, ensuring delivery meets budget, timeline, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, aligning stakeholders and team members on the plan and executing tasks to achieve project goals.
  • Make project decisions and recommendations to management about schedules, prioritization, and resource allocation.
  • Measure project performance and progress using appropriate tools and techniques, identifying and quantifying variances, and performing required corrective actions.
  • Document high-level risks, assumptions, and constraints, developing and tracking risk mitigation and issue resolution plans.
  • Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs, ensuring the project plan reflects authorized changes.
  • Interface independently with functional and business areas affected by the project, including senior and/or executive management.
  • Communicate and report status to executives and stakeholders, including status reports and executive briefings.
  • Manage project budgets, working closely with the finance team to oversee and report project financials.
  • Employ project management best practice methodologies, working within a framework that includes process definition, templates, tools, and Alight standards.
Accountabilities:
  • Ensure compliance to Alight standards across projects being delivered.
  • Escalate issues through appropriate channels for support in resolution and to raise senior management awareness.
  • Share best practice and key learnings to support continuous improvement.
  • Deliver project reporting and maintain systems of information in accordance with Alight's standards.
Competencies:
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Technical understanding of required solutions for delivery.
  • Project management methodology demonstration and education.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent work experience required.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (or working toward certification within 12 months) or PRINCE2 certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Experience communicating effectively with high levels of management and direct client contact.
  • Experience managing complex projects with tight timelines and multiple key business priorities to conclusion while maintaining high client satisfaction.
  • Experience with global customers/team members.
  • Resourceful, confident under pressure, and proven problem-solving skills.
  • HR Consulting, payroll, and outsourcing industry experience.
  • Vendor management experience.
  • 3 – 5 years of PM experience; 7+ years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrate and educate as a proficient Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Project Management process and tools.
  • Experience communicating effectively with different levels of management and direct client contact.
  • Experience with software methodology development processes.
  • Ability to create presentations and write business cases under some direction.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines managing multiple priorities.
  • Project budgeting/costing knowledge.
  • Ability to solve more complex problems and deal with a variety of work situations.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Fluent in English (written, oral).
