About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer to join our team at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) in the Life Sciences Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing methodologies for systematic evaluation and validation of AI/ML models in the context of OpenEBench and connected projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Landscape current efforts on AI/ML models evaluation and validation in Life Sciences and work towards integration into the OpenEBench platform.
  • Lead the development of strategies and a generalizable methodology for AI/ML models evaluation and validation in close collaboration with research communities and relevant projects.
  • Drive the adoption of the methodology in the context of OpenEBench, preparing necessary extensions of the platform.
  • Ensure timely dissemination of results across various channels at institutional, local, national, and international levels.
Requirements
  • Superior degree in bioinformatics-related or data science-related fields.
  • At least three years of experience in managing research data used in the context of AI/ML models generation, including detection of potential biases.
  • At least three years of experience in AI/ML models generation, evaluation, and validation.
  • At least three years of experience as a research software engineer developing high-quality software that is sustainable, well-documented, and follows community-led development good practices.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience in applying the FAIR principles to data, software, workflows, and/or AI/ML models.
  • Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in Spanish and other European languages would be advantageous.
