About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join our dynamic finance team at Metro Markets GmbH.

As a key member of our accounting department, you will be responsible for general accounting activities, including bookkeeping for separate legal entities, monthly/quarterly closing, and preparing consolidated financial statements according to IFRS and HGB.

You will also conduct accounting-related analyses and reconciliations, support the coordination of financial audits, and collaborate with various teams to address accounting-related inquiries related to accounts receivable and payable.

Responsibilities

  • General accounting activities, including bookkeeping, closing, and financial statement preparation
  • Accounting-related analyses and reconciliations
  • Financial audit coordination and support
  • Collaboration with various teams on accounting-related matters

Requirements

  • Experience with SAP accounting system, Tagetik, and MS Excel
  • 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in retail/eCommerce sector
  • Degree or relevant qualification in accounting
  • Experience in accounts receivable, revenue and expense accounting, and payment methods management
  • Knowledge of IFRS and HGB, or other GAAPs
  • Fixed assets accounting and IFRS 16 knowledge
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and detail-oriented mindset
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Fluent in English
