Overview

The position of the Technical Infrastructure Integration Manager (TIIM) demands exceptional interpersonal, communication, and organizational capabilities. We are in search of a Project Manager who can operate independently and possesses extensive experience in Project Management and Construction Management. A background in Data Center or telecommunications projects is beneficial but not mandatory.

The TIIM is accountable for overseeing all project management activities related to the fit-out of Microsoft-owned systems and services, along with the essential infrastructure that must be installed in a new data center facility. This role necessitates identifying and managing scopes and interdependencies among all external and internal stakeholders, while coordinating these with the physical construction efforts of our General Contractors and other vendors.

The TIIM is responsible for the entire project lifecycle, which includes planning, budgeting, procurement, pre-construction tasks, and ensuring the required documentation and expectations are met for the handover to our Operations teams and business units.

This role entails producing and managing project plans, executing major milestones (such as Early Access, Network Installation, and Fit Out Completion), and overseeing the financial aspects of these tasks for Microsoft’s build and lease projects. The position will be based onsite at various locations.

In alignment with Microsoft’s values, we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive work environment that positively influences our culture every day.

Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications: PMI (Project Management Institute) – PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is highly preferred.
  • Self-motivated individual with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines concurrently.
  • Experience in managing large-scale enterprise projects with both localized and virtual teams.
  • Proven success in collaborating and influencing across teams and organizations.
  • Ability to work effectively within a dynamic team of full-time employees and consultants.
  • High personal standards for delivering polished and quality work products.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business management, electrical engineering, construction management, or a related field.
  • Experience in IT fit-out or construction-related project management.

Preferred Qualifications: BICSI RCDD or similar Telecommunications Design/Installation experience is advantageous. Previous experience in Data Center construction or IT fit-out management is a plus. Knowledge of Construction Health & Safety is also beneficial.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements is essential for this role. This includes passing the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the TIIM include, but are not limited to:

  • Advocating for a safe worksite and supporting the implementation of the Microsoft High Risk Activity (HRA) program.
  • Coordinating internal Microsoft scope and resource efforts with those of the General Contractor and other vendors to ensure a seamless handover of the fitted-out Data Center facility.
  • Collaborating with the Data Center Engineering team and specialty consultants to review and enhance design execution.
  • Overseeing the procurement and installation of telecom materials, security systems, and furniture.
  • Coordinating the design, procurement, installation, and activation of the Corporate Network.
  • Aligning metro-wide delivery strategies with local team objectives and vendor management strategies.
  • Managing stakeholder dependencies and construction deliverables for Microsoft Security, IT, and Integrated services.
  • Reporting to the Regional TIIM team leader and ensuring the delivery of Integration and Technical Infrastructure scope for the US-West Region.

Business Processes:

  • Maintaining best practices to identify cost-effective solutions in line with evolving build and lease program specifications.
  • Managing the selection, contracting, and integration of multiple vendors and internal partners.
  • Driving the deployment of solutions that can be shared globally across DCD projects.
  • Facilitating decision-making to drive solutions, schedules, and manage changes as necessary.
  • Applying influence and negotiation skills to identify options and recommend solutions.

Communication:

  • Regularly reviewing cost and KPI metrics, invoices, and process communications with client partners.
  • Coordinating meetings and activities of vendors and cost managers.
  • Attending scheduled Integration meetings and reporting as needed.
  • Providing weekly project status updates in accordance with Data Center Execution standards.
  • Identifying and addressing barriers by collaborating with others around shared needs.
  • Maintaining a broader perspective to identify opportunities for enhancing the business through collaboration.

Accountability:

  • Developing, managing, and reporting on scope, schedule, and budget related to Integration and technical fit-out.
  • Working independently to support Data Center Development Projects.
  • Tracking lessons learned and executing cost-saving opportunities.
  • Providing vendor oversight and performance management as required.
  • Preparing Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and other project approval tools.
  • Reviewing vendor scope of work and site plans as necessary.
  • Validating vendor pay applications and invoices in line with milestone payment schedules.
  • Ensuring compliance with prior audit results and recommendations.

Benefits and perks may vary depending on the nature of your employment with Microsoft and the country where you work, including industry-leading healthcare, educational resources, discounts on products and services, savings and investments, maternity and paternity leave, generous time away, giving programs, and opportunities to network and connect.
