About the Role

Skydance Media is a dynamic and innovative company that offers a unique opportunity for pioneers in the field of animation to push the boundaries of what is possible. As a Senior Technical Director, you will be part of a team that is dedicated to creating high-quality animated films using cutting-edge technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and support innovative tools for production teams to efficiently create animated films.
  • Collaborate with artists and engineers to iterate, debug, document, and refine tools and processes for feature film production.
  • Act as the first point of contact for day-to-day technical issues and provide support to artists.
  • Report on the status of technical development projects, tool performance, and production operations.
  • Continuously examine production user experiences, satisfaction, and understanding to identify areas for improvement.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in the VFX or animation industries.
  • 3+ years of experience in the animation industry.
  • BS degree in Computer Science or a similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Deep understanding of 3D animated film production pipelines and workflows.
  • Expertise in Python and experience building tools for Maya, Houdini, and Nuke.
  • Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems, as well as version control systems (Git).
  • Ability to document digital processes and technical solutions.
  • Practical knowledge of continuous delivery and agile methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with Renderman and Arnold.
  • High English language proficiency.
  • Spanish language proficiency.
