POSITION SUMMARY

The selected candidate will oversee targeted communication initiatives for the IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation (IUCN-Med) while also offering administrative and technical support for various projects.

This role involves collaborating with the IUCN-Med communication team to create, distribute, and evaluate content performance, particularly across social media platforms and the official website.

Additionally, the intern will provide communication assistance for projects across different departments within IUCN-Med, focusing on social media content development.


The intern may also support other communication requirements for the IUCN-Med office.

The Communications Intern will aid IUCN-Med in executing institutional and project-related communication tasks, including social media content creation for initiatives such as the Mediterranean Alliance for Wetlands, NBSoil, Natae, Blue4All, and others.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to IUCN-Med's social media presence (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn) by developing and implementing a weekly content strategy based on corporate and project activities, along with monthly performance evaluations.
  • Assist in specific social media campaigns aimed at enhancing follower engagement and outreach, utilizing infographics, microvideos, or animated graphics, while identifying and engaging with key influencers.
  • Support the updating process of the IUCN/Mediterranean website by reviewing, translating, and uploading new content in collaboration with all IUCN-Med departments.
  • Aid in the creation of social media and web content, including articles and press releases related to IUCN-Med projects.
  • Monitor and manage interactions on social media posts, responding to inquiries and guiding discussions as necessary.
  • Assist with routine administrative tasks.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications:
  • Advanced Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Translation, or a related field; candidates should be enrolled in an educational institution to establish an internship agreement.
  • Experience or background in communication or a related field is advantageous;
  • Proficiency in using advanced online publishing tools, including content management systems (like WordPress), social media analytics, and authoring tools such as SocialFlow, Hootsuite, TweetDeck, etc.;
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish; knowledge of French is a plus;
  • Strong motivation, interpersonal skills, and excellent communication abilities;
  • Graphic design capabilities;
  • Valid work authorization within the EU. COMPENSATION: The minimum gross annual salary for this position is EUR 7,200. This amount is indicative and may be subject to changes in accordance with IUCN's compensation policies without prior notice.
