About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Release Manager to join our team at Vodafone. As a key member of our Software Development team, you will be responsible for creating, embedding, and maintaining a robust lifecycle and release management capability within our Mobile Private Network's portfolio.

Your primary focus will be on scheduling, planning, and controlling the software's development and delivery process. You will work closely with multiple stakeholders, including Product Management, Complex Customer Solutions, Technology Product Owners, Agile Delivery Managers, Engineering, and Operations, to ensure that the solution can be readily deployed and operated across a global footprint.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the Release Management lifecycle, including strategy, tooling, planning, coordination, and management of product and maintenance releases across both in-house and externally developed components.
  • Optimize the release management approach, embedding appropriate practices to ensure smooth compliance while optimizing the process through the use of KPIs and Analytics.
  • Act as the Customer Champion, always considering the migration plan and customer impact.
  • Drive communications around each release, covering requirements, release preparation documents, QA plans, schedule, scope changes, and resulting release notes.
  • Identify risks that can delay the release and manage them, ensuring the scope scheduled and quality of the release are not affected.
  • Embed Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews in the process and validate/review their effectiveness on a regular basis.
  • Act as an evangelist for automation, driving the use of code pipelines with appropriate quality checks built in, ensuring the impacts of branches and code merges are understood.
  • Lead and coordinate the Go-Live activities, including deployment Plans & checklists.
  • Maintain a release repository and manage key information, such as the release calendar, build & release procedures, dependencies, and compatibility matrix.
  • Drive the execution of Change Management processes.
Requirements
  • Excellent programming skills and experience.
  • Ability to handle software infrastructure management & configuration management.
  • Experience in using project or release management tools.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated effective communication, leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of system integration patterns to deliver products.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams in a matrix organization.
  • Knowledge of Agile software development & DevOps practices/tools.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CD/CI) pipelines.
  • Good understanding of application infrastructure, system architecture, and operating system.
