Release Manager

Vodafone Group is seeking a skilled Release Manager to join its team in the Mobile Private Network's portfolio. As a key member of the Software Development team, you will be responsible for creating, embedding, and maintaining a robust lifecycle and release management capability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Schedule, plan, and control the software development and delivery process
  • Work across multiple domains, managing agile software development with code pipelines and external vendors
  • Align with stakeholders such as Product Management, Complex Customer Solutions, Technology Product Owners, Agile Delivery Managers, Engineering, and Operations to ensure smooth deployment and operation across a global footprint
Main Responsibilities:
  • Own the Release Management lifecycle, including strategy, tooling, planning, coordination, and management of product and maintenance releases
  • Optimize the release management approach, embedding appropriate practices to ensure smooth compliance and process optimization through KPIs and Analytics
  • Act as the Customer Champion, considering the migration plan and customer impact
  • Drive communications around each release, covering requirements, release preparation documents, QA plans, schedule, scope changes, and resulting release notes
  • Identify and manage risks that can delay the release, ensuring the scope, schedule, and quality of the release are not affected
  • Embed Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Business Go/No-Go reviews in the process and validate/review their effectiveness on a regular basis
  • Act as an evangelist for automation, driving the use of code pipelines with appropriate quality checks built in, ensuring the impacts of branches and code merges are understood
  • Lead and coordinate Go-Live activities, including deployment Plans & checklists
  • Maintain a release repository and manage key information, release calendar, build & release procedures, dependencies, compatibility matrix
  • Drive the execution of Change Management processes
Requirements:
  • Excellent programming skills and experience
  • Ability to handle software infrastructure management & configuration management
  • Experience in using project or release management tools
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle
  • Demonstrated effective communication, leadership, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of system integration patterns to deliver products
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams in a matrix organization
  • Knowledge of Agile software development & DevOps practices/tools
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CD/CI) pipelines
  • Good understanding of application infrastructure, system architecture, and operating system
Nice to Have:
  • Experience with Jira/Confluence & SAFe is an advantage
  • Experience in the use of Application Release Automation tools is an advantage
