About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Fire Assayer to join our team at ALS. As a Fire Assayer, you will play a critical role in the analysis of precious metals using traditional fire assay techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately weigh samples and add flux reagents as part of the fire assay process.
  • Fuse mixtures in a high-temperature furnace to extract precious metals, including gold.
  • Perform cupellation and prilling daily to collect and prepare metal samples.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of samples, fusion pots, lead buttons, and prills before laboratory testing.
  • Record any anomalies to ensure the accuracy and quality of the assay process.
  • Adhere strictly to fire assay safety procedures, proactively identifying and addressing potential safety issues.
Requirements
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring precision in all aspects of the assay process.
  • Clear communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to perform procedures promptly and accurately.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team, following detailed training and safety protocols.
  • Ability to thrive in a physically demanding, high-temperature work environment.
  • Flexibility and reliability to meet the dynamic demands of the department.
