About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our Kubernetes infrastructure organization in India. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the backend infrastructure for deploying and maintaining hundreds of Kubernetes clusters that host applications on our multi-cloud platform.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and Develop Go Clients/Projects: Build, maintain, and scale Go clients/projects and their support tools to ensure seamless deployment and management of Kubernetes clusters.
  2. Contribute to New Relic Infrastructure: Collaborate with our team to develop and manage the New Relic infrastructure, ensuring it meets the needs of our customers.
  3. Open Source Contributions: Contribute to open-source projects, such as Cluster API, to enhance your skills and reputation as a Kubernetes expert.
  4. Service Improvements and Research: Work with our team to discuss and implement service improvements, research new tools and services to solve complex problems, and ensure our infrastructure remains secure and efficient.
  5. Agile Environment and DevOps Approach: Participate in an agile environment with a DevOps approach, building and maintaining our own software, including participating in second-layer support rotations.
Requirements
  1. Professional Experience: 4+ years of professional work experience in software development and/or operations.
  2. Education: BS/MS in Computer Science or relevant field.
  3. Programming Languages: Hands-on experience coding in Golang, Java, Python, or Bash.
  4. Containerization Tools: 4+ years of experience with containerization tools - Kubernetes, Istio, Cluster API, Crossplane, etc.
  5. System Administration: Solid background in application and system programming, and Linux system administration.
  6. Infrastructure as Code (IAC): Involvement in building Infrastructure as Code (IAC).
  7. Cloud Providers: Deep understanding of security, reliability, performance, and cost-effectiveness of distributed systems on public cloud providers like Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google GCP.
Bonus Points
  1. CI/CD Tools: Experience working with Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools such as Jenkins, Ansible, Travis CI, Circle CI.
  2. API Design and Development: API design and development exposure with Go programming language.
  3. Cloud Technologies: Experience in cloud technologies like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  4. Linux Operating System: Solid understanding of the Linux operating system and concepts such as virtual machines and containers.
  5. Open Source Development: Active participation in open source development.
