Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environment Modeling Lead Artist to join our team at Skydance. As a key member of our visual effects department, you will be responsible for managing a team of modeling artists to create high-quality visual environments for our productions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a team of modeling artists to achieve high-quality visual environments within assigned deadlines
- Collaborate with the Supervisor and production team to ensure artistic vision is met
- Provide expert guidance and support to team members in areas of modeling, sculpting, and optimizing assets
- Work closely with the Director, Production Designer, and Supervisor to elevate the quality of work
- Model trees, bushes, and other vegetation to match the visual style of the production
- Iterate with the production designer to find the best location design
- Lead the team in providing support, guidance, and instruction to promote artistic and professional growth
- Ensure all assets meet quality standards and artistic direction, while meeting deadlines
- Stay up-to-date with current technology trends and tools to maintain a strong creative technical environment
- Solve technical problems with the TD Supervisor to find the best solutions
- Provide modeling support to other departments, such as Lighting, Shading, Rigging, Scene comp, and FX
- Act as a liaison between input and output departments
Requirements
- 6 years of professional experience in VFX or animation industries
- At least 1 year of experience as Lead in the animation industry
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressure
- Strong eye for proportions, color, composition, and detail
- Strong modeling knowledge, including organic modeling and USD workflow
- Knowledge of Houdini is desirable
- High English level
- Spanish oral and written is desirable
