About the Role

KWS Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Breeder - Melon Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our vegetable breeding program, you will be responsible for developing and managing our melon breeding program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement breeding strategies to improve the quality and yield of our melon varieties
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including research and development, to identify and develop new breeding technologies
  • Manage and direct a team of breeding specialists to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the breeding program
  • Coordinate with production teams to ensure the availability of high-quality basic stock seeds
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners and suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality seeds

Requirements

  • PhD or master's degree in plant breeding or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a vegetable breeding program
  • Strong knowledge of quantitative genetics, plant pathology, and breeding methodology
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) and proficiency in Spanish
  • Ability to work in an international team and travel for business purposes
