Job Title: High Performance and Scientific Computing Engineer

The Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) is a leading research center in the field of nanoscience and nanotechnology. We are seeking a highly skilled High Performance and Scientific Computing Engineer to join our team.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Install and manage High-Performance Computing infrastructures, specializing in scientific computing.
  • Collaborate with the IT department and research groups to set up and run computational facilities.
  • Install and maintain scientific libraries, queuing systems, storage infrastructures, hardware, network communication, and other necessary actions for smooth and efficient performance.
  • Interact with researchers developing scientific software and have sufficient knowledge of scientific programming languages and tools.
Requirements:
  • Education: MSc or PhD in computer science, software engineering, computational physics, or related fields.
  • Strong skills in Linux environments, especially in scientific environments.
  • Expertise with installation, administration, monitoring, and maintaining secure Linux/Unix operating systems.
  • Familiarity with low-latency/high-bandwidth, interconnected infrastructure.
  • Expertise with HPC cluster management tools, job schedulers, and other HPC tools.
  • Knowledge of HPC storage principles, file systems, and compute node storage.
  • Proficiency with fundamental programming skills (Bash, Python, Fortran, C).
  • Familiarity with shared and distributed memory parallelism and accelerators.
