About the Role

We are seeking a talented Junior Software Developer to join our Technology Team at Verisk. As a Junior Software Developer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality software solutions and contributing to the development of our client-facing web application (GRiD).

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in requirements gathering, refinement, and delivery of user-focused improvements
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with team members on technical projects
  • Deliver high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested code that meets user requirements
  • Work collaboratively with other Developers, Project Owners, UX, designers, and QA engineers to deliver high-quality solutions

Requirements

  • A proven track record of developing in Python
  • Awareness of Django and the Django Rest Framework
  • Familiarity with building web applications, common design patterns, and underlying architectures
  • Familiarity with Agile software development practices
  • Some knowledge in REST APIs, both in authoring and consuming
  • A good level of experience in SQL and database interaction
  • A good understanding of git and working collaboratively on team-level code base

Desirable Skills

  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and platforms such as AWS
  • Experience using docker or other container orchestration technologies
  • Experience of the Linux command line and basic Linux server administration skills
