Position Overview
This role presents a remarkable opportunity for professional growth by collaborating with a team of experts at ALBA, alongside external partners and users, to enhance the functionalities of the MINERVA instrument, which is dedicated to the characterization of X-ray optics within the Optics and Metrology Group (Experiments Division). This position is in close collaboration with the Industrial Liaison Office of ALBA, which promotes innovation and competitiveness through the advanced use of synchrotron techniques in a collaborative, multicultural, and dynamic work environment.
We are looking for a highly driven individual to engage with an intensive industrial and innovation program aimed at strengthening ALBA's collaboration in the realm of X-ray optics and metrology. The successful candidate will support and advance industry research in this area and leverage technology transfer opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide assistance to users of the MINERVA instrument, particularly industry clients.
- Ensure the MINERVA instrument is maintained in optimal condition and readily available for use.
- Execute upgrade and commissioning activities necessary to maintain the MINERVA instrument at peak performance.
- Offer support for data analysis, interpretation, and the generation of comprehensive reports for industry clients.
- Organize and participate in national and international outreach initiatives to promote the application of synchrotron techniques in industry.
- Contribute to ongoing research and development activities within the Optics and Metrology Group.
- Carry out necessary tasks to keep the MINERVA instrument operational following the ALBA II upgrade.
- Assist with technology transfer initiatives.
The selected candidate will work on the MINERVA beamline, co-funded by the European Space Agency (ESA), in relation to the NewATHENA mission, an innovative X-ray space observatory anticipated to be launched in the coming decade. The candidate will collaborate with the private company cosine to produce and characterize the optics (mirror modules) for the space telescope, as well as with any other companies interested in utilizing the industry services of the ALBA Synchrotron.
Qualifications
The candidate should possess a University degree in a scientific discipline relevant to the project, including an Engineering degree.
This position is designated for candidates with a legal status of disability, with a degree of disability equal to or greater than 33%. Candidates with this status will be prioritized in the evaluation process. If no suitable candidates with a disability status are selected, the evaluation will continue with the remaining applicants.
