Position Overview

At Corteva Agriscience, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of agriculture. This position is an integral part of our Government & Industry Affairs team, focusing on managing advocacy initiatives for Corteva in Chile.

Reporting to the Southern Cone Government & Industry Affairs leader, based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, you will be tasked with crafting and implementing the Government & Industry Affairs strategy tailored for Chile. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Strategizing, developing, and overseeing the execution of country-specific government and industry affairs programs aimed at fostering regulatory acceptance of products and driving essential commercial growth initiatives.
  • Collaborating with the Chile Risk Mitigation Team to address critical areas for the organization.
  • Engaging with local stakeholders in compliance with regulations to advocate for Corteva's interests.
  • Enhancing the company's reputation within political and regulatory landscapes.
  • Participating in key associations' Government Affairs task forces.
  • Providing insights to local operations regarding the external environment.
  • Coordinating community engagement initiatives for operational sites.
  • Prioritizing issues such as operational freedom, investment rights, market access, product regulation, customs, tariffs, export controls, trade policy development, and strategic partnerships.
  • Conducting all responsibilities in alignment with Corteva's Core Values, emphasizing ethical conduct and adherence to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate Corteva's vision to external stakeholders.
  • Identify significant political and non-technical risks pertinent to Corteva and formulate comprehensive advocacy strategies and engagement plans with key stakeholders.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with essential external stakeholders related to identified risks.
  • Utilize advocacy, intelligence gathering, and relationship management to support business objectives.
  • Effectively represent Corteva's positions on legislative and regulatory matters, leveraging resources from various departments.
  • Act as Corteva's representative in business-related chambers, councils, and associations, while being accountable for think-tanks and research organizations.
  • Collaborate with the International Government & Industry Affairs team to shape Corteva's global stance on public policy issues.

Qualifications:

We seek a candidate who embodies the following attributes:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in government relations roles, with a diverse range of assignments preferred.
  • Experience within a multinational corporation or association in innovative sectors, particularly in food and agriculture, is highly valued.
  • Proven knowledge of the Government of Chile, multi-lateral agencies, trade associations, and the political and regulatory landscape.
  • Ability to analyze government policies and advocate corporate positions effectively to senior policymakers and legislative staff.
  • Demonstrated capability to manage stakeholder relationships, collaborate with government entities, and integrate political risk mitigation into product strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal, networking, and public speaking skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and command respect.
  • High motivation and initiative to navigate complex and ambiguous environments.
  • Fluency in English with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven experience in budget management.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time.
