Job DescriptionJob Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Onshore Wind Global Machine Head Rotating Components Driveline subsystem team. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-quality main bearings for wind turbines, ensuring reliability, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop build-to-spec main bearings for wind turbines, encompassing component specification, design, analysis, system interaction, and system reliability.
- Hold ownership of and drive lessons learned, best practices, and standardization into design-related documentation.
- Develop and execute testing/validation plans to prove component function and reliability.
- Provide innovative design solutions to meet aggressive timing, product cost, and reliability targets.
- Ensure quality of new and revised drawings, Bills of Materials, and specifications, applying all GE and industry processes, standards, and best practices.
- Work cross-functionally with quality teams, manufacturing engineers, sourcing, suppliers, field support, and others to improve product quality and first-time yield.
- Support manufacturing, sourcing, and the field with issue resolution and quick corrective actions for design-related causes.
- Drive quick, complete technical root cause analysis of field failures and identify design-related corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Identify and execute cost-saving ideas and strategies.
- Drive efforts to introduce advanced technology, materials, manufacturing methods, and new design tools/methods to advance the strategic position of yaw subsystem components.
- Strong background in mechanical design and engineering principles.
- Experience in designing and developing high-quality components for wind turbines.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet aggressive deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
