The Medical Language Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate and culturally appropriate translations of written materials. This position requires a deep understanding of both the source and target languages, enabling the specialist to maintain the integrity and style of the original content while ensuring the accuracy of ideas and facts.

Fluency in multiple languages is essential, along with the ability to research and apply industry-specific terminology effectively. The Medical Language Specialist is dedicated to upholding high standards of quality and precision, demonstrating exceptional problem-solving abilities when faced with complex content.

Collaboration with the IQVIATM Translations Services team is vital, as this role significantly contributes to the overall success and efficiency of translation operations.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a strategic partner to deliver timely translations while adhering to quality commitments.
  • Follow provided materials and guidelines meticulously to fulfill client requirements.
  • Conduct thorough research on industry-specific terminology to accurately convey the meaning and tone of source materials.
  • Utilize specialized glossaries and translation tools to ensure translation quality.
  • Review translated documents for accuracy in terminology, grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Collaborate with the IQVIATM Translations Services team to identify and address any gaps in instructions or external factors affecting client commitments.
  • Assist in updating and enhancing glossaries, Translation Memories, Style Guides, and other internal resources.
  • Provide constructive feedback on the quality of translations performed by other linguists or partners.
  • Act as the primary contact for managing quality and timely delivery related to feedback.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Native proficiency in the target language: DUTCH.
  • Exceptional spoken and written communication skills in the target language: DUTCH.
  • Proficient in the source language(s) – both spoken and written: ENGLISH.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in translating, reviewing, and editing life sciences content, including clinical trial documentation.
  • A degree in translation or linguistics, along with at least 3 years of translation experience, or no degree with a minimum of 5 years of translation experience.
  • Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines is essential.
  • Experience with translation management systems and CAT tools is required.
  • Familiarity with memoQ is preferred.
  • Previous experience as a translator in a translation and localization company is advantageous but not mandatory.

Work Environment:
Both home-based and hybrid models are available.
