Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Engineering Consultant to join our team at Oracle. As a key member of our cloud engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and building new cloud-centric applications from the ground up.

About the Role

This is a greenfield opportunity to work on ambitious new initiatives and drive the design of major service components. You will work closely with engineering managers and TPMs to provide direct guidance to more junior team members and enable development teams to deliver product features on time and with high quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-scale public cloud services and control plane components
  • Drive the design of major service components and work with engineering managers and TPMs
  • Provide direct guidance to more junior team members and enable development teams
  • Go from high-level system design to hands-on prototyping, code reviews, and project bootstrapping
  • Balance speed and quality with iteration and incremental improvements
  • Automate and instrument to make life easier for other developers and motivate teams to make process and service improvements

Requirements

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related field (MS preferred)
  • 10+ years distributed service engineering experience in a software development environment
  • Development experience in a modern programming language, such as Java and C++
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing deep understanding of object-oriented design and SDK development, specifically within a cloud environment
  • Experience working closely with architects, principals, product and program managers to deliver product features on time and with high quality
  • Good knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, and distributed systems fundamentals
  • Working familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures
  • Good understanding of databases, NoSQL systems, storage, and distributed persistence technologies
  • Good understanding of Linux or desire to learn

  • Hands-on experience developing services on a public cloud platform (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
