Position Description

QIAGEN is seeking a Maintenance Manager to become a vital part of our multidisciplinary Maintenance team. This role involves overseeing the coordination of both internal and external maintenance activities, ensuring all maintenance operations within our medical devices manufacturing facility run smoothly. The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for the effective functioning of machinery and equipment, supporting continuous production while complying with stringent regulatory and quality standards. Leading a team of maintenance technicians, the Manager will ensure their professional development, adherence to safety protocols, and will tackle complex mechanical and electrical challenges related to both manual and semi-automated manufacturing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance Strategy and Implementation: Formulate and execute maintenance strategies to ensure optimal equipment performance within ISO clean room standards. Organize and prioritize maintenance activities to reduce production interruptions. Perform routine equipment assessments and provide urgent repair support to sustain operational efficiency. Team Leadership and Growth: Guide, mentor, and train maintenance personnel for effective and safe operations. Conduct performance reviews and offer constructive feedback to promote growth. Ensure adherence to safety regulations and cultivate a safety-first culture within the team. Compliance with Regulations: Guarantee that all maintenance activities align with FDA regulations and ISO standards. Maintain precise documentation for regulatory audits. Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Identify opportunities for process enhancements to boost efficiency and minimize costs. Collaborate with other departments to adopt best practices and innovative technologies. Financial Oversight: Develop and oversee the maintenance budget, implementing cost control strategies. Identify cost-saving measures while ensuring quality and safety standards are met. Vendor Coordination: Manage relationships with vendors for maintenance services and procurement of spare parts. Assess vendor performance and negotiate contracts to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality service.

Position Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related scientific/technical field preferred (Automation, Mechanics, Electronics, or similar). Proven track record in maintenance management, ideally within a manufacturing context, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership capacity. Strong leadership and team-building capabilities, with a focus on motivating and developing a diverse maintenance team. Experience in the design and upkeep of complex manufacturing or scientific apparatus. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues. A strong sense of urgency in executing critical tasks. Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in budget management and cost control practices. Attention to detail is essential. Broad technical knowledge in areas such as PLC programming, heat management, pneumatics, SolidWorks, and machining (e.g., CNC). Proficient command of English. Experience in In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD), familiarity with regulatory requirements (IVDD 98/79/EC, ISO 13485, IEC 62304), and project management experience are advantageous.
