About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Centre Assistant to join our team at the British Council. As a key member of our Early Years team, you will play a vital role in supporting the class teachers in Teaching and Learning, as well as the care and well-being of the children.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the class teachers in planning, preparation, delivery, and assessment of all curricular-related activities to ensure learning is advanced.
  • Take an active part in class activities, setting up planned activities, supporting pupils, and responding appropriately to advance learning.
  • Use effective language, questioning, and understanding to support learning activities.
  • Support and create attractive and interactive displays to extend learning both within and beyond the classroom.
  • Support any initiatives put into action in the centre.
  • Ensure a safe and secure learning environment in the classroom.
  • Contribute to maintaining a tidy and organized classroom environment.
Off-Site Specific Duties
  • Support Early Years teachers and off-site coordinator with collection of children from the playground before the beginning of classes.
  • Help collect children who are missing from their class once the class has started.
  • Inform parents of any absences in agreement with the coordinator.
  • Work with more than one group of children if necessary.

Requirements
  • Right to work in the country.
  • Practical experience and/or training in an educational setting.
  • Desirable: 1 year of classroom experience working with children aged 2-5.
  • B1 level or above in English and C1 level or above in local language.
  • Completed or undergoing educational qualification in teaching to EY or Primary aged children.
