Job Title: Senior Systems Safety Engineer

Job Summary:

Boeing Research and Technology-Europe is seeking a Senior Systems Safety Engineer to join our team in Munich, Germany or Madrid, Spain. As a key member of the Digital Engineering (DE) Global Center, you will be responsible for developing, deploying, and executing system safety analysis, systems safety analysis methods, and solutions using a model-based approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide safety design and analysis expertise to program stakeholders and leadership.
  • Utilize Model Based Engineering/Digital Engineering tools to analyze architectures/designs and develop safety deliverables.
  • Conduct research in the area of systems engineering and systems safety, with emphasis in Model Based Safety Analysis (MBSA) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes, methods, training, and tools.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in Systems, Systems Safety, Hardware, or Software development.
  • Experience with ARP4754B, ARP4761A, MIL-STD-882E, or similar.
  • Fluent in both verbal and written English.
  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally.
  • Must be legally able to work in Europe.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience performing system safety analysis and/or studies.
  • 5+ years of experience with commercial airplane certification, safety requirements, and procedures.
  • 5+ years of working knowledge of Hazard Analyses, FMEA's, Airplane Level Threats (Particular Risk Analyses), and Fault Trees and/or System Safety Assessments (SSAs).
  • Experience with FAR Part 25.1309, and industry practices like ARP 4761 & 4754.
  • 5+ years of experience developing/applying aviation-related system safety analysis methods such as System Safety Risk Assessments, Fault-tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA), and Safety Assessment Report (SAR).
  • 5+ years of experience in Commercial Airplane-Systems design or analysis (e.g., Flight Controls, Hydraulics, Avionics, Fuels, etc.) or Systems Integration.
  • Pilots license.
  • Model Based Safety Analysis (MBSA), Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and Model Based Engineering application and toolsets (such as MATLAB Simulink, SCADE, Cameo, Rhapsody, CAFTA, PTC Windchill, 3DX, etc.).
  • Excellent collaboration skills and experience with Agile methodologies.

Relocation:

This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Typical Education:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry (e.g., Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g., PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Europe. Candidates must have current legal authorization to live and work in Europe. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.
