Job Title: Monitoring & Observability Expert
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Monitoring & Observability Expert to join our team at Alter Solutions Group. As a key member of our IT operations team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our monitoring infrastructure to ensure seamless operations and optimal performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain our monitoring infrastructure, including SCOM, Checkmk, and Elastic Observability tools.
- Develop and implement monitoring solutions to ensure real-time visibility into our systems and applications.
- Extend our current infrastructure and implement new infrastructure following capacity management plans.
- Develop integration through APIs and develop ad-hoc monitors as required.
- Develop SCOM management packs and automate tasks using Ansible.
- Develop reports and identify and troubleshoot known problems, documenting solutions.
- Provide guidance to Tier 1 workforce and coach team members as needed.
- Create relevant statistics for our monitoring tools and perform required tasks in maintenance windows.
- Provide on-call services on a rotation basis during weekends, holidays, and outside of normal working hours.
Requirements:
- Good experience with SCOM, Checkmk, and Elastic Observability tools.
- Good scripting knowledge in Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
- Programming skills in.NET, C#, or Python.
- Proficient in English.
- Knowledge of other monitoring tools like OEM or Prometheus is desirable.
- Experience in Full-Stack Observability platforms is desirable.
- Experience with automation tools and runbooks like Ansible, YAML is desirable.
- Experience with KQL, ESQL, PromQL, JSON, and dashboards in Kibana is desirable.
- Experience with reports, SSRS, PowerBI is desirable.
- DevOps practice is desirable.
Soft Skills:
- Customer-facing experience and oral communication skills.
- Ability to write documentation and reports.
- Creativity/ability to find innovative solutions.
- Willingness to learn on the job.
- Conflict management and cooperation.
- Experience and understanding of complex enterprise environments.
Certifications:
- Any of the following certifications: Elasticsearch engineers, Elastic Observability Engineer, System Monitoring with Checkmk, System Center Operations Manager.
- Relevant industry certifications.
- Monitoring tools certifications.
- Programming language certifications, preferably.NET, C#, or Python.
