Job Description

Role:


Observability Manager Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the company's observability strategy, aligning it with both IT operational goals and broader business objectives.
  • Collaborate with IT, DevOps, and business stakeholders to ensure observability initiatives support the company's strategic goals and operational efficiency.
  • Lead and mentor a team of observability engineers and specialists responsible for configuration, deployment, and optimization of observability tools and processes.
  • Collaborate with IT and SRE teams to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimize system performance, and enhance the customer experience using Dynatrace insights.
  • Integrate observability into automated processes, including CI/CD pipelines, to ensure proactive monitoring and faster incident detection and resolution.
  • Provide stakeholders regular reports on system performance, observability metrics, and actionable insights, making data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Oversee major performance-related incidents, ensuring quick resolution and post-incident analysis to prevent recurrence.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 7+ years of experience in IT Operations, Performance Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering, with at least 3+ years of hands-on experience with Dynatrace.
  • Proven track record of leading teams and developing a vision for observability in alignment with business and operational goals.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker), and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or similar.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and automation tools to streamline monitoring and incident management processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical insights into business outcomes and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to identifying and solving performance issues.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Dynatrace Certification and experience with AIOps, automated incident response, or machine learning-driven performance monitoring.
  • Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and incident/problem management processes.
  • Experience aligning observability metrics with business KPIs and data-driven decision-making.


How You Will Work:

You will lead an observability team, ensuring alignment between their day-to-day tasks and the strategic vision for observability. You'll mentor and guide them to drive continuous improvement. You'll collaborate extensively across teams-working with IT, DevOps, and business stakeholders-to ensure observability efforts contribute to both technical efficiency and business success.

You will work at a high level, creating the vision for observability, ensuring it aligns with business needs, and overseeing the execution of this strategy with your team. You'll act as a bridge between technical teams and business leadership, ensuring observability data and insights drive informed decision-making and performance optimization.

You will foster an environment of continuous learning and improvement, staying ahead of industry trends, and incorporating best practices into the company's observability framework.
