About the Role
As a Global Network Operations Engineer at SGS, you will play a critical role in supporting and enhancing the Global Network Services within our organization. Your expertise will be essential in implementing the global network strategy, ensuring optimal performance, and maintaining seamless connectivity across our global network infrastructure.
Your role will be pivotal in ensuring the successful operation and continuous improvement of our network services, enabling us to maintain our high standards of service delivery and network performance.
Key Responsibilities:- Network Operations: Operate at scale, providing a vital link between different IT areas and stakeholders to support Global Network Services.
- Strategy Implementation: Help implement the global network strategy as defined at the group level in collaboration with the Network Lead.
- Network Liaison: Serve as a focal point of contact within the group for all network-related activities.
- Initiative Onboarding: Lead the onboarding of key global network initiatives into operations.
- Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with both operational and non-operational counterparts.
- Issue Resolution: Collaborate with Integration and Engineering teams to proactively and reactively identify and resolve issues with vendors and third-party network providers.
- Critical Incident Management: Manage critical network incidents at Level 3, ensuring swift and effective resolution to meet service SLA targets.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Participate in stakeholder meetings to discuss plans, issues, and achievements related to network operations.
- Change and Problem Management: Support Change Management and Problem Management processes to ensure network stability and performance.
- Compliance: Comply with SGS's Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct at all times.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience in managing complex global networks and a proven track record in network engineering, particularly in large-scale, multinational environments.
Qualifications- Education: Tertiary or higher education in Computer Engineering, Information Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Certifications: Networking certifications such as CCNA or CCNP.
- ITIL Foundation: ITIL Foundation level certification or higher is a distinct advantage.
- Specialized Knowledge: Certification or proven experience with Riverbed SDWAN technology is a plus.
- Network Experience: 5+ years of experience in similar roles within large, complex global networks (1,000+ sites).
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in network routing protocols and network security technologies.
- Software-Defined Networks: Experience in software-defined networks and cloud-based security solutions.
- SD-WAN Architecture: Experience in planning, designing, and documenting SD-WAN architecture.
- Incident, Problem, and Change Management: Experience in Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
- Escalated Incident Management: Proven track record in managing escalated incidents to resolution.
- International Experience: Experience working with international customers and service providers.
- Customer Support and Service Level Management: Deep understanding of Customer Support and Service Level Management (ITIL).
- Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Crisis Management: Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage crisis situations efficiently.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate information and formulate sound, practical judgments.
- Strategic Planning: Ability to translate strategy into actionable plans and deliver superior results.
