We are seeking a:

PRODUCT MANAGER – SEM Strategic Core

The Specialty Engineered Materials (SEM) segment is the preferred choice for customers facing complex application challenges. Avient serves as a reliable partner for engineered polymer formulations, offering an extensive portfolio of high-performance and specialty-engineered materials designed to enhance product quality.

Reporting to the Senior Product Manager EMEAI, the Product Manager will lead strategic product marketing initiatives, including market analysis, segmentation, and multi-generational product planning, while defining platforms for Avient's SEM Strategic Core products. This role requires a thought leader capable of working independently and effectively influencing peers and higher management within both Avient and customer organizations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Product Manager will be accountable for:

  • Driving profitable growth.
  • Achieving gross margin targets as a percentage of sales.
  • Expanding gross margin percentages.
  • Increasing vitality index metrics.
  • Meeting vitality gross margin targets.
  • Overseeing new product launches.
  • Engaging customers and the business using key tools such as situational analysis, sales and marketing plans, and effective product launch kits.
  • Ensuring product introductions align with the specialization strategy and fulfill launch requirements.
  • Monitoring business performance and supporting the Strategic Plan in collaboration with regional management.
  • Establishing clear metrics for product profitability and proactively managing product mix.
  • Generating and assessing the effectiveness of sales campaigns and marketing materials, analyzing product sales records against targets.
  • Developing product forecasts for management review and updating the Strategic Plan as necessary.
  • Collaborating with sales, research, manufacturing, and distribution to facilitate new product development and introduction.
  • Providing ongoing technical support to customers and Avient sales personnel, ensuring access to up-to-date product application knowledge and training.
  • Building relationships with key customers and suppliers, conducting marketing and sales calls to promote sales efforts and assess market trends.
  • Partnering with Environmental Health & Safety to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Participating in trade functions to cultivate business contacts and gather market insights.
  • Supporting Avient's Lean Six Sigma improvement initiatives and promoting a culture of error-free work.
  • Coordinating and participating in the New Product Development process and situational analysis system.
  • Developing and implementing strategic marketing directions for product platforms.
  • Creating compelling value propositions focused on customer needs.
  • Driving measurement and tracking of market size, share, and ROI.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in business or a technical field (e.g., chemistry, industrial engineering).
  • 5 to 15 years of experience in a technical or commercial role, preferably in marketing or product management.
  • Strong leadership abilities combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven marketing expertise across various disciplines, capable of developing comprehensive strategies and managing operational details.
  • Ability to coach and guide personnel in marketing sub-disciplines to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint).
