About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Software Engineer to join our team at New Relic. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for driving the design, development, and enhancement of our observability platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Lead a team of software engineers to achieve technical excellence and deliver high-quality code.
  • Platform Development: Drive the design, development, and enhancement of core features and functionalities of our observability platform.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement robust, scalable, and efficient systems.
  • Staying Ahead: Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and apply innovative solutions to enhance our platform.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate technical concepts and ideas to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in software development, engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience: 4+ years of experience as a technical lead for a team of at least 5 engineers, and 8+ years of experience working as a software engineer in Java and/or Go.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of scalable distributed systems and microservices architecture, with the ability to design and implement solutions that meet performance and scalability requirements.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent collaboration abilities, with the capacity to work effectively with cross-functional teams, present ideas, and communicate technical concepts clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Open Source Contributions: Contribution to open source projects.
  • GraphQL Experience: Experience working with or building GraphQL schemas.
  • Distributed Systems: Experience building and maintaining high throughput pipelines and distributed systems.
  • Observability Experience: Experience working on an Observability product, especially in the SaaS vendor space.
