PhD Researcher in 2D Materials Characterization

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD student to join our research group at the Materials Science Institute of Madrid (ICMM) at CSIC. The successful candidate will work on the characterization of electronic and thermal properties of 2D materials and devices based on them.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Use advanced techniques to characterize the electronic properties of 2D materials.
  • Develop and implement thermal characterization techniques, such as Time Domain Thermo-Reflectance, Scanning Thermal Microscopy, and thermal Bridge method.
  • Collaborate with the research group to design and conduct experiments.
  • Contribute to the development of new materials and devices based on 2D materials.
Requirements:
  • MSc degree in Physics or Thermal Engineering.
  • Excellent knowledge on thermal transport, ideally at nano-and micro-scale.
  • Experience with experimental laboratory, especially in thermal characterization techniques.
  • Critical and creative approach to research, as well as sharp analytical skills.
  • Pro-active and result-oriented team worker in an academic environment.
  • Capability to solve problems independently, but also be able to work with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to organize research with both academics and professionals.
  • Good communication (verbal and writing) skills in English.
