Postdoctoral Researcher in Microfluidics for Neural Organoid Network Engineering

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Universitat de Barcelona. The successful candidate will be part of a collaborative project focused on developing a standardized and automated human-based neural organoid network on-a-chip for drug screening purposes.
Project OverviewThe project, titled "ZeNeuroid," aims to create a microphysiological platform using microfabrication technologies and validate it with iPSC-derived neuronal cell lines and 3D neural network cultures. The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for validating the technologies, performing connectivity studies, adapting 3D cultures to the microphysiological platform, and characterizing neural activity and connectivity using calcium imaging techniques.
Key Responsibilities- Validate microfabrication technologies with iPSC-derived neuronal cell lines and 3D neural network cultures
- Perform connectivity studies and adapt 3D cultures to the microphysiological platform
- Characterize neural activity and connectivity using calcium imaging techniques
- Collaborate with the industrial partner, ZeClinics, to develop the biological model of the neural organoids
- Co-supervise students and research assistants working on the project
- Extensive experience with iPSC culture and differentiation techniques
- Proficiency in advanced imaging techniques and data analysis
- Strong background in neuropsychiatric disease modeling and 3D cell culture technologies
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment
The selected candidate will work closely with the PI and other team members to achieve the project's objectives. The position is renewable up to 30/11/2025, and the candidate must accept the job offer within 5 working days from the date of notification. Priority will be given to people with disabilities.
