Fluor Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Control Systems Engineer to join our team in Tarragona, Spain. As a key member of our regional team, you will be responsible for supporting the Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) department on assigned projects.
Key Responsibilities- Perform and check calculations for simple equipment, and solve problems of basic to moderate engineering complexity.
- Review vendor equipment documentation within the discipline and from other disciplines for compliance with project requirements, and actively seek discrepancy resolution.
- Develop estimates, schedules, progress reports, and key quantity tracking reports.
- Identify deviations in job scope, estimate magnitude of changes, and initiate trends or change orders.
- Support estimate activities.
- Interface with project disciplines and client representatives.
- Develop and build client relations promoting Client Service Excellence.
- Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting.
- Assist in the review of vendor lists, preparation of quotation requests, bid tabulations, purchase orders, and considerations for substitutions for technical acceptability.
- Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines.
- Organize and prioritize a variety of projects and multiple tasks in an effective and timely manner, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Plan and organize own work assignments, as well as carry out tasks from management staff.
- Prepare/review scopes of work for third party contracts.
- Perform control systems sizing calculations for control valves, relief valves, flow elements, thermowells and other instrumentation.
- Create instrument index, datasheets and generate reports in Intergraph SmartPlant Instrumentation database.
- Develop control systems narrative specifications.
- Acquire basic knowledge to develop control systems logic diagrams and/or cause and effect diagrams.
- Develop control systems estimates and report on control systems progress.
- Develop specifications and design of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) hardware and software applications and implementation in software configuration.
- Bachelor or equivalent in engineering field.
- 5-10 years of relevant working experience.
- Ability to communicate effectively in Spanish.
- Intermediate knowledge of:
- Specifying instrumentation.
- Control systems procurement activities.
- Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) representation; ability to recognize/report problems associated with control systems representation on P&ID.
- Basic knowledge to develop control strategies and represent on P&ID.
Advance level of INTOOLS and/or PRODOK.
