Position Overview
Scopely is seeking a Lead Backend Engineer to enhance our dynamic casual gaming project, Monopoly GO . We are committed to fostering a culture of play and innovation, connecting with our diverse player communities and talented team members across the globe. Our organization is dedicated to transforming the mobile gaming landscape, engaging millions of users worldwide. The Monopoly GO team is among our flagship franchises and has rapidly grown to become one of our most significant titles.Key Responsibilities Collaborate closely with product owners, game designers, and cross-functional development teams to integrate new functionalities within a dedicated feature team. Partner with client-side developers to establish robust network communications between the game client and server. Architect and develop our game server along with related tools and libraries, prioritizing performance, scalability, and reliability. Create automated, high-quality tests (unit, integration) and work alongside QA teams to enhance gameplay, mitigate exploits, and ensure seamless operation. Develop tools that empower our live operations and game design teams to craft engaging and innovative gameplay experiences. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of experience in a professional game development environment or a related field. Strong foundation in computer science and engineering principles (data structures, concurrency, design patterns, algorithms). Proficiency in C# or another object-oriented programming language, with experience in asynchronous and multi-threaded programming. Practical experience with cloud computing (AWS) and high-performance, low-latency distributed systems. Familiarity with Unix-like operating systems. Experience with Redis (or similar database systems), ORMs, and migration scripts. Ability to write efficient, low-latency, low-IO code. Solid understanding of security measures to prevent intrusions, injections, and cheating. Preferred Qualifications Experience with highly available backend systems and game servers. Knowledge of modern web development frameworks such as React or Angular. Familiarity with AWS, Docker, Terraform, Kibana, Chef, Ansible. Background in automated testing.
