Scopely is in search of a Lead Backend Engineer to enhance our exciting casual game project, Monopoly GO . At Scopely, we are passionate about our mission and strive to inspire play every day, whether through our collaborative workspaces or our strong connections with our player communities. Our diverse team of gaming enthusiasts is dedicated to developing, publishing, and innovating within the mobile gaming sector, engaging millions of players globally.

Key Responsibilities Collaborate closely with feature stakeholders, game designers, and various development teams to introduce new functionalities within a dedicated feature team. Partner with game client developers to establish networked communications between the game client and server. Architect and develop our game server along with related tools and libraries, emphasizing performance, scalability, and reliability. Create automated, high-quality tests (unit, integration) and collaborate with QA teams to enhance gameplay experience, mitigate exploits, and ensure seamless operation. Develop tools that empower our live operations and game design teams in crafting innovative gameplay experiences. Qualifications Over 5 years of experience in a professional game development environment or a related field. Strong foundation in computer science and engineering principles (data structures, concurrency, design patterns, algorithms). Proficiency in C# or another object-oriented programming language, with experience in asynchronous and multi-threaded programming paradigms. Practical experience with cloud computing (AWS) and low-latency, high-scale distributed systems. Familiarity with Unix-like operating systems. Experience with Redis (or similar database systems), ORMs, and migration scripts. Ability to write efficient, low-latency, low-IO code. Strong understanding of security measures to prevent intrusions, injections, and cheating. Preferred Skills Knowledge of highly available backend systems and servers for gaming. Experience in web development using modern frameworks such as React or Angular. Familiarity with AWS, Docker, Terraform, Kibana, Chef, Ansible. Background in automated testing.
