The Engineering Director, Community Leader will play a pivotal role in driving community engagement and growth across all engineering teams at Canonical. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned professional to shape the future of open source community building.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with distributed teams to establish and achieve community engagement goals
  2. Develop and implement strategies to enhance community processes, engagement, and interaction across engineering
  3. Represent Canonical externally, promoting Ubuntu and related technologies
  4. Mentor others and provide cross-team input to drive community growth
  5. Work closely with developer advocates and PR teams to promote Ubuntu and related technologies
  6. Identify and engage with relevant influencers to promote Canonical's interests

Requirements

  1. A long history and clear public record of community engagement, particularly with open source communities
  2. Experience leading successful projects and teams
  3. Excellent communication and influencing skills
  4. Ability to represent Canonical externally and promote Ubuntu and related technologies
  5. Strong collaboration and influencing skills
  6. Curiosity, flexibility, articulacy, and accountability
  7. Passion for technology and working with brilliant people
  8. Follow industry trends and new technologies
  9. BS/BA or equivalent in Computer Science, Technical Communication, English, or a related field
