Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Pipeline Engineer to join our team at Skydance Animation. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for defining, developing, testing, analyzing, and maintaining software applications and libraries for our global feature animation pipeline.

Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design, develop, test, deploy, and document proprietary software used in concurrent film productions.
  • Workflow Analysis: Analyze and assess existing workflows and procedures related to our pipeline.
  • Collaboration: Liaise with IT infrastructure, IT Client Services, Wrangling, Production, and Show TD teams to resolve problems with hardware, software products, or company software systems.
  • Technical Expertise: Keep up with current methodologies, technology trends, and tools that best suit our production and the company.
  • Team Guidance: Follow the team's technical guidelines and provide support, guidance, and instruction in areas that contribute to the professional growth of team members.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactively look for risks and problems in the current system and propose improvements.
  • Communication: Proactively reach out to stakeholders and inform them about the progress of tasks, setting expectations promptly.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: BS degree in Computer Science or 5+ years of working experience, preferably in animation.
  • Engineering Skills: Solid engineering skills, with an appreciation of code craft, quality, and technical debt management.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work with a team to deliver high-quality software in a fast-paced, dynamic, and deadline-oriented environment.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of writing efficient, efficient, and performant code in Python3+.
  • Task Management: Familiarity with task management systems/frameworks like Agile Sprint, Jira, Scrums, Daily Standups, etc.
Technical Stack
  • Production Front-End Systems and Libraries: Knowledge of production front-end systems and libraries, including USD, Houdini, Maya, Nuke, and other digital content creation applications and their APIs.
  • Backend Technologies: Familiarity with backend technologies, including Linux development environment essentials, NFS, source version control systems (Git preferred), databases (RDBMS and/or Non-Relational DB), deployment systems, in-memory caching systems, queuing systems, and message brokers.
