Laboratory Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician to provide critical support to our dynamic PerkinElmer lab service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operations within the customer lab space, allowing scientists to focus on their research.
This is a fixed-term contract to cover a maternity leave through to March 2025. The ideal candidate will have a high level of attention to detail and be able to work independently to provide a quality service.
Key Responsibilities:- Management of chemicals and reagents used by customers, including delivery, collection, inventory management, and safety data sheet maintenance.
- Raise and track purchases using customer-provided purchasing software, coordinate deliveries, and liaise with customers.
- Preparation of chemical and biological shipments (national and international) and specific tasks tailored to customer requirements.
- Follow SOPs, protocols, and guidelines related to tasks and interact with colleagues to solve technical problems.
- Maintain training and compliance in health and safety, security, environmental, and operational aspects of daily activities.
- Provide and escalate continuous improvement initiatives to benefit ways of working.
- Attention to detail and understanding of the basic laboratory environment.
- Excellent organizational skills, including troubleshooting and problem-solving independently.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Basic experience with MS Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent customer service and customer relations skills.
- Ability to critically review ways of working effectively.
- Bachelor's Degree in a chemistry, biology, or other relevant discipline.
- High School Qualifications with proven experience in a laboratory environment or customer service environment.
- Experience within a laboratory environment.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a laboratory, controlled environments requiring personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses, etc.). The job pace may be fast, and job completion demands may be high. The person must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time and occasionally move between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings onsite.
Frequently operate on instruments, objects, tools, or controls, which will require regularly bending, squatting, stretching, and reaching to perform in a service function. Occasionally move or lift to 25 pounds (potential for occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds). Specific vision abilities required by this position include without limitation, the ability to observe details at close range distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus to perform the essential service functions of this position.
