The Applications Support Scientist is responsible for delivering comprehensive pre- and post-sales technical assistance for Thermo Fisher Scientific's Nalgene/Nunc consumer and laboratory plastics products. This role involves direct interaction with clients and field representatives, as well as providing valuable feedback to the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Offer expert technical assistance for Thermo Fisher Scientific laboratory plastics by addressing customer inquiries through various communication channels.
  • Resolve technical challenges by utilizing available resources and collaborating with internal experts to address issues effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions in our Customer Relationship Management system, contributing to ongoing improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze market and technological trends to develop technical insights, create FAQs, and enhance troubleshooting documentation.
  • Suggest enhancements to our knowledge databases, websites, and other technical resources managed by the company.
  • Deliver technical presentations to team members and actively participate in departmental meetings.
  • Engage in regular training on products and pursue continuous education on new applications and technologies.
  • Contribute to special projects, either as part of a team or individually.
  • Undertake additional related tasks as opportunities arise.
  • Minimal travel may be necessary for this role.

Qualifications:

Education:

Required: A degree in life sciences, chemistry, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 2-10 years of experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Previous experience in customer service or a client-facing role is highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency in English and French or Italian is essential. Additional languages are a plus.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly assimilate extensive and complex technical information.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with customers and colleagues.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks while ensuring timely and precise execution.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an innate curiosity.
  • Proficiency in digital tools, including spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and internet applications.
  • A commitment to at least two years in Technical Support is required due to the extensive training necessary to fully support our diverse product offerings.
