About the Role

Air Products is seeking a highly skilled Field Instrumentation Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the design, installation, and commissioning of field instrumentation systems across our operating facilities in the EMEA region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead project execution, particularly field installation, and ensure compliance with safety, engineering, and management of change standards.
  • Liaise with engineering disciplines, vendors, and peers to develop and execute projects.
  • Develop and manage project schedules and budgets, adhering to all applicable standards.
  • Support and supervise field instrument installations, and work closely with field instrument contractors.
  • Specify plant instrumentation using smart plant instrumentation or equivalent systems, and design hardwired shutdown systems.
  • Participate in P&ID, HAZOP reviews, and assist in factory and site acceptance tests.
  • Be responsible for pre and post-commissioning activities, and work with operating teams and engineering disciplines to troubleshoot and resolve critical plant instrumentation issues.
  • Change or organize the change out of defective plant instrumentation per Air Products standards or complying with current local standards.
Requirements
  • A high level of English language proficiency, with any other language being a plus.
  • A high level of technical expertise, ideally suited to someone with an Engineering Degree (Chemical, Mechanical, or Control & Instrumentation Engineering) with 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong design skills, and a proven track record in the specification, execution, and implementation of instrumented systems.
  • Proven practical, onsite plant experience with a 'hands-on' approach, including experience in contractor supervision.
  • Experience in the installation, and commissioning of all aspects of field instrumentation.
  • Discipline to work to a schedule and manage competing priorities, with self-motivation and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage and progress multiple projects at the same time, with flexibility to travel anywhere within the EMEA region to support projects for short durations.
