Barcelona, Spain (UAB Campus)

Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM, CSIC)

Start date: December 2026 – January 2027

Full-time | Postdoctoral Position

The Institute of Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM, CSIC) is the largest Spanish research institute dedicated to Micro and Nanotechnologies, Micro-systems, Semiconductor Technologies and Integrated Systems. Recognized as a María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence, IMB-CNM hosts Spain’s largest clean room facilities and develops cutting-edge technologies for science and industry.

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher in Micro-fabrication and Heterogeneous Integration to lead the development of advanced micro-channel cooling technologies for next-generation radiation detectors, semiconductor devices, and high-performance computing (HPC) systems.

This role offers a unique opportunity to bridge micro-fabrication, MEMS technologies, advanced packaging, thermal management, silicon inter-posers and 3D integration within an internationally collaborative research environment.

About the Project

The project focuses on developing innovative technological solutions to integrate micro-channel cooling into semiconductor platforms through:

✅ Silicon interposers with embedded micro-channels

✅ Heterogeneous integration technologies

✅ Redistribution Layers (RDL)

✅ Through-Silicon Vias (TSVs)

✅ Wafer bonding and advanced packaging processes

✅ Monolithic integration with radiation detectors

The resulting technologies will support applications in:

  • Particle Physics Instrumentation
  • Photon Science and Free Electron Lasers
  • High-Performance Computing (HPC) Cooling
  • Future Semiconductor and Heterogeneous Integration Systems
