**Laboratory Technician Researcher**
**Microbiology Research Group**

VHIR offers vacancy/vacant position for a Laboratory Technician Researcher within the Microbiology Research Group. The

researcher will participate in the development of the European Commission funded project “Scalable, point-of-care and label free

microarray platform for rapid detection of Sepsis (RAIS)”.

The Research Group of Microbiology at Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) focuses on the study of the microbiology aspects

involved in the infectious diseases aimed at improving developing basic, translational and clinical research that could improve the

outcomes of patients with infectious diseases. We work with special interest in studying the mechanisms involved in antimicrobial

resistance, the sexually transmitted infectious diseases, the study of viral and fungal infection in immunocompromised patients,

the microbial mechanisms involved in pathogenicity, microbial epidemiology as well as in the design and evaluation of new

molecular infectious disease diagnostic systems. More information about the Microbiology Research Group can be found here:
**JOB DESCRIPTION**

**Education and qualifications**:
**Required: -**

Degree in the field of Life Sciences.
- Possess a master's degree in biosciences
- Good communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English
- Proactive, dynamic and outstanding organizational skills are required
- Background in microbiology, infectious diseases and sepsis

**Preferred: -**

Background in microbiology, infectious diseases and sepsis

**Experience and knowledge**:
**Required: -**

Experience in Microbiology and Molecular Biology.** -**
Experience in PCR and qPCR assays.
- Knowledge in bioinformatics will be positively valued

**Main responsibilities and duties**:
- Determination of sepsis biomarkers of samples collected in the RAIS project
- Laboratory validation of the RAIS platform
- Maintenance and up-to-date of clinical databases of patients with sepsis.
- Participation in developing, writing scientific reports and papers, attending project meetings and scientific conferences, and

in outreach activities within the project
- Support the researchers of the project.

**Labour conditions**:
- Full-Time position (40h / week)
- Gross annual salary: 22.100 €
- Starts date is expected for 18th October 2017
- Ends date is expected: until 31st December 2017
